During the last two decades the technological advancement has taken over the world, be it any field. This has especially done wonders in the field of software development and graphics technologies which subsequently has given rise to developed versions of computer games. These are loved by children and adults alike throughout the world. There has been an ongoing debate on whether the time spent children spend on computer games compared to physical sports is better or it's a negative development.
The role of parents play a major role in the development of children in their education as well as extracurricular activities. However I have mainly observed that parents expect the children to behave in a particular way which is similar to how the parents themselves were during their young age. The parents push their children to take up physical sports such as swimming, rowing, football etc and give up computer games or cut down the time to be invested in them. It is generally difficult for parents to comprehend the idea that children might choose something which is not fit according to their opinion. For example- Making a group of friends who play online computer games. In my opinion playing computer games opens up a creative realm of the mind.
However it is a fact that sitting in front of computer for several hours is going to be a problem in the near future. The adverse effect constant sitting in the same posture and looking at computer screen have been associated with children complaining of back pain and eye problems.Doctors have particularly advised against this mode of playing computer games as it might even cause severe health issues someday. On the contrary, playing physical sports such as swimming, football etc tends to increase physical strength and stamina.
To summarise, I would like to press on the point that parents should make the children understand the importance of having a creative side to their thoughts which can be obtained by playing computer games. Family can support the young one in his decision to take on computer games in professional way as it might turn into a glorified career someday. Furthermore, I stand to my point that playing computer games opens up an interesting and creative world for the children which can make them happy and even successful in the future, if not sooner.
