Task 1
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
You should write at least 150 words.

The line graph illustrates the percentage of the population of the USA, Sweden and Japan that is 65 years old and older from 1940 and the projected numbers into 2040. Overall, the common trend observed is that the proportion rises and will continue to do so with the years.
The line for the USA experiences both steady increases and plateaus. From 1940 to 1980 the proportion of elderly is rising (going from approximately 9% to 15%), however after that it enters a period of no growth until 2020. After this moment the percentage rockets all the way up to 23%.
Sweden's elderly population has similar proportion but with the difference that there are no plateaus. The line in the graph is characterized by sharp increases and drops around 1980 and 2010. Those aged 65 and over in this country are recorded as 7% of the total population in 1940 and have a projected growth to 25% in 2040.
Japan's trendline is vastly different from the other countries until 2030. It's elderly population makes up only 5% of the total in the 1940s and decreases slightly until the late 1980s. This is the turning point in its graph, where the percentages start to climb, with a significant jump in 2030. The projected proportion for 2040 is around 26%.
Task 2

Some people think that the most important thing about being rich is it gives a person the opportunity to help other people.
Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
You should write at least 250 words.
It is believed that the most vital thing about being wealthy is having resources and opportunities to aid others. I believe that is generally true, though sadly not what can be observed in real life.
Unequal wealth distribution can be observed around the world. Some people become extremely rich, while others around them live without a single penny to their name. To my way of thinking, it is important for those who have aquired wealth to use it for the good of those around them by donating to shelters and individuals, funding projects for those with less resources, and more. It is realtively easy to set aside a percentage of your earning each month for charity and there is no need to bankrupt yourself - for those in need, every dollar counts.
Unfortunately, most if not all of the world's richest men do not share this way of thinking. It seems that to them helping others is not as much of a priority as ammasing more wealth. Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and the other top 10 richest people together hold more money than half of the world's population. Instead of using it to fund life-saving projects that could bring drinkable water to parts of the world and save millions of lives, they invest in their technology and turn their backs on humanity. I believe that if someone has so many resources, it is only moral to share them for the greater good.
In conclusion, being able to help others with your resources when you are rich is key. It should be what all wealthy people strive towards, even though in our current world it is not.
