The minimum age of gaving birth is increasing over time in both developed and developing nations. This trend may be the result of the harder life compared to the past, as well as the significant development of social media. That may be beneficial for couples, and individuals while raising their offspring, however, there are some risks of the children having birth defects due to the old age of their parents.
Initiallly, the major cause of having children later than previous time could be, firstly, the more difficult life. It is clear that almost every aspects in the current is more complex than it used to, forcing people to focus more on themself before thinking about marriage and giving birth. To give a brief example, to seek for job successfully, young people have to spend a great deal of time studying at schools, which may last at least 10 years; and enroll in varieties of courses, curiculums, projects, etc to gain necessary experience serving for their future work; regardless the time finding information and applying for work in the increasing competive employment markets. Another reason behind the current trend could be social media developing briskly also. There are thousands of love scandles, or news recording arguement and conflicts between lovers leading to considerable consequences, etc are being published daily. As a result, the youth, who surf the social network the most, may regard close relationships with partners are unecessary, annoying or dangerous, and become more reluctant to planning about their future families.
This development may offer people some obvious benefits, namely the stability in their living conditions, as well as mental strength, which could contribute to their raising offspring process. To explain, the longer time people spend on their work, the higher and more permanent work and income their may get, owing to larger range of practical experience and knowledge gained. Therefore, they could be financially independent, and are able to have stable accomodation to spare time with families without basis worry. On the other hand, it can not be denied that age is a major factor afftecting the health of children. It has been reported by WHO that, the cases of birth defects, namely down sydrome, congenital heart defects, clubfoot, etc tend to increase with mothers aging 30 years old or more noticeably.
To brief, more complicated life and inovative social media may result in the rising age of having children, which could help parents raising their offspring physically better, but contribute to the higher chances of congenital defects in children at the same time.
