The pie charts illustrate the amount of time spent on different activities by working adults in years 1958 and 2008. Overall, it is evident that most working professionals spent their time working in both these years.

To be precise, people spent a third of their time working, and another third sleeping in 1958. Apart from this, one fifth of their time was spent on going out with their friends and families. They spent the rest of their time relaxing, travelling and on other interests like playing sports.

Similarly, in 2008, people spent a bulk of their time working and sleeping with 42% and 25% respectively. The rest 30% of their time was distributed almost evenly amongst relaxing in their homes, travelling to work, going out and on other interests.

To summarize, it can be observed that in both years, people preferred spending most of their time working and sleeping which took up almost 65% of their time.

Nowadays, not enough students choose science subjects in university in many countries. What are the reasons for this problem? What are the effects on society?

You should write at least 250 words.

The number of students opting to pursure science in their universities has dropped significantly these days in many countries. Although this may not seem like a big issue at the moment, the impact it can have on the society can be serious.

To begin with, there's a stigma associated with science as it is considered a tough subject. This causes students to avoid this subject as it might jepordize their grades if they don't perform well. Apart from this, a lot of people find science intimidating and therefore give up and start looking at other alternatives before giving it a chance. To add to this, schools and colleges make minimal efforts at endorsing the subject. Students aren't educated about the potential and opportunities this field has and hence, this subject faces a lot of neglect.

Surprisingly, people are very laid-back about this issue and don't consider it a big enough problem to take action upon. But what they fail to realize is that with less and less people choosing to pursue science every year, it severly affects the society or country's development rate. For it is people of science who work on bringing new advancements and technologies into the world. Humans are considered superior species because of our ability to evolve and invent. Without scientists or engineers, no new discoveries or inventions will be made.

To summarize, it is pretty evident that it is neglect by institutions towards the subject that mainly causes students to avoid science these days. And even though the effects of this issue might seem negligible at this point, the ramifications it can have on the society can be dire.
