Writing Task 1

WHO, which is one of the subsidiries of The United Nations, suggests that each individual should consume at least five meals of fruit and vegetables on a daily basis. The chart below shows the data of how much fruit and vegetables does each age group of the British eat. In this essay, I am going to describe the chart and extract some useful information.

There are two obvious patterns lying in the charts. First, we can see that generally women have healthier diet since they eat more fruit and vegetables. In the 45-54 group, the difference is roughly five percent, while in the last group, it narrows to under one percent.

The second fact coming out of the data is that in general, the older a person gets, be it male or female, the more he/she eats fruit and vegetables. The highest rank is for 55-64 years old people, with more than 30 percent of them consuming the forementioned group of meals.

To summarise, the female have a healthier diet comparing to the male, while the younger people tend to consume less fruit and vegetables in comparison to the elderly.

Task 2

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Some experts believe that when a country is already rich, any additional increase in economic wealth does not make its citizens any more satisfied. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

You should write at least 250 words.

These days economists and sociologists are discussing how much impact does the wealth of a government have on the amount of happiness of its fellow people. One group believes that there is a cap for it, meaning that if the country is rich now, more wealth won't increase people's satisfaction. The opposing side, on the other hand, challenge this mindset and argue that the more wealth comes to a society, the more happiness will come to people's heart. I personally stand with the second group and in the coming paragraphs, I am going to share my reasons.

Firstly, there is always a lot to do for a government to make its citizens more and more satisfied. To name a few, infrastructure, social services, public health, and education are among sections which need continiuos injection of money. So by injecting more and more money into them, the number of happy citizens and also the amount of happiness will rise.

Secondly, it seems that the first group, those who are in favor, think that by injecting more money into the society, we mean the officials should hand over the money directly to the people. But the fact is that they're wrong and misjudged the case, for we all know that this approach leads to unleashed inflation and fall of the economy and life quality. What we mean is to increase the economic wealth and then spend the additional money for infrastructure, helping businesses grow, investing, life quality, and offer more and better opportunities to people.

To sum up, I am among the people who believe the wealthier the economic, the happier the people, and there is not a ceiling for this satisfaction.
