Writing task 1

The line graph illustrates the number of students that graduated from the universities in Canada between 1992 to 2007.

Overall, the number of males and females graduated followed a similar pattern from the beginning till the end. However, significant variations among the both could be seen in the last 3 years with sudden escalation in the figures for female graduates.

The male graduates were at around 71,000 in the year 1992, gradually rising to around 77,000 in the year 1995, but fell to around 72,000 in the year 1998. Then there were some variations till the year 2001, following to which was a trend reversal and the figures significantly rose to about 96,000 in somewhere between 2006 and 2007.

On the other hand, the female students grew by almost 50% in the span of last 7 years. Starting at around 98,000 in 1992, the figures continued to show some fluctuations till the year 2000, followed by a sudden increase to approximately 148,000 in somewhere between 2006 and 2007.

Some organisations believe that their employees should dress smartly. Others value quality of work above appearance.

Writing task 2

During the last 10 years, the transition in clothing trends at work places were significant. Some organizations now prefer to concentrate on the talent of the employees, no matter what attire do they prefer, but some employers still envy the old traditional clothing trend being followed at work places from last many decades. In my view, weightage must be given to talent and the quality of work one produces over anything else.

Judging a person from his clothes will fetch nothing. No matter how formally a person is dressed, his appearance could be top notch, however skill and experience are some of the important requirements necessary to perform job roles. For instance, Google now allows it's employees to wear semi-formal or even casual clothes in it's offices with a principle of the more the comfortable a human is, the better he'll perform. Furthermore, it is seen that in uncontrolled environment conditions, the harsh weather makes it difficult for the person to carry himself, further leading to distraction from his job roles he is assigned with.

On the other hand, a formal appearance attracts attention, respect and promotes discipline among the employees. A formal outlook is always mandatory for any official working at a high post in a government department, considering it as a sign of respect and to promote discipline to a certain extent. An on-duty police official will always be seen in a uniform, unless they are working covertly, this makes them stand out of the crowd promoting and ensuring discipline and abidance to the law.

Concluding my views, I strongly agree that quality of work should be valued the most, as no employer would allow the output to be hampered just to promote appearance of it's employees at the workplace.
