The bar graph represents the levels of air pollution, in PPM, due to electricity generation, transport and industry, for four nations, China, America, Japan and Australia, in 2021.

At first glance, China had the highest pollution level for all three categoties, followed by America and then Japan. Australia had the lowest of all four countrues. Moreover, While the rates of polution for China and Japan follows a similar trend, highest for industry and lowest for electricity generation, the Japan has its highest pollution from tranport and Australia maintained a relatively stable pollution level across the three causes.

Categorocally, China and Japan recorded their largest pollution level from inductrial activities; the former had a total of 80 PPM while the latter recorded a sum of nearly 45 PPM. In terms of pollution due to transportation, China's value was greater than that of Japan by exactly 40 PPM.

In america, tranportation contributed the most to the total levels of air pollution, reading a value of nearly 60 PPM, while electricty and indutrial activities accounted for just about 50 percent of that value.

The dangers of smoking are well known, yet many people continue with this habit.

Writing task 2

Smoking has been proven to have detrimental effects on human health, even cigarette producers warm that smokers are liable to die young, yet the rate of smoking in the society continues to increase alarmingly. In this essay, I will discuss smoking addiction and negative coping mechanisms as plausible causes of these habits, and profer solutions to curb the rate of smoking through government regulations.

Scientists have proven that addiction -contuniued dependence on a drug - makes it difficult for smokers to quit smoking. This is mainly due to withdrawal symptoms a cigarette user experiences whenever he or she tries to stop smoking. These symptoms include but are not limited to fever, anxiety, shivering and muscle spasms and they discourage any attempts to stop or reduce smoking. In fact, more of the drug may be required to terminate the withdrawal effect.

Additionally, smoking is a form of coping with stress or anxiety; it may be to difficult to change from this lifestyle. As individuals, we often react to unpleasant and traumatic situations by developing coping mechanisms, sometimes postive and other times negative. Smoking is an example of a negative coping mechanism. A popular psychologist once said that the only way to get rid of a habit is by forming another habit. This means that smokers cannot stop smoking unless they can develop a positive coping mechanism to replace smoking.

Fortunately, the rates of smoking can be controlled through government laws and policies. It is more likely that people will cease cigarette consumption if the givernment places a ban on this activity and assigns consequences for defaulters. For instance, the government of Bhutan passed a law that prohibits tobacco use in public places and has experienced low prevalence of smoking since then. This way, it is possible that more and more people will be discouraged from smoking.

Similarly, a simple decision to increase sales tax on cigarette can produce a cascade of outcomes leading to smoking ceasation. By way of illustration, a rise in the tax on cigar will force local cigarette vendors to increase the price of their product in order not to run at a loss. Consequently, the inflated cigarette price may discourage consumers from purchasing the product or the customer may purchase less of it.

In conclusion, the rising trend of tobacco use can be attributed to the inability of smokers to live without the drug and the development of unbreaking coping habits around the drug. However, these factors can be gradually eliminated from the society through government intervention.
