Writing Task 1

The pie chart compares the rate of birth of people in different countries in Australia, while the table illustrates the locations where people choose to live in their countries.

Overall, the number of people who were born in Australia outnumber the other countries and cities are predominantly more crowded than rural areas in each country.

Regarding the pi chart, slightly less than three-fifths people were born in Australia. The figure for China accounted for 14%, which is two times as many as that of the UK. New Zealand and the Netherlands are roughly comparable in this regard, there is only a difference made up of 1% between them. The value for the other countries has a small fraction of 1%.

Tuning to the table, nearly everybody who lives in China prefers to live in cities and the percentage for rural areas accounted for only 1%. The population of the Netherlands and the UK mostly intensified in the cities, with the rate of 90% and 89% respectively. New Zealand has the most population in the rural areas, with a quarter of people and Australia follows it with a subtle difference of 3%.

In the contemporary world, the nutrition habits of people have undergone a profound change in comparison to the past. The rate of sugar consumption has increased tremendously and one of them by far the most consumed products by people is sugar-based drinks recently. This essay will examine the main causes of this upward trend and present possible solutions to this problem.

This situation mainly stems from the lack of awareness regarding the negative impacts of overconsumption of sugar in society. Sugar influences the human body adversely and these effects can be pronounced and diagnosed in a long period. Thus, people can realize these pitfalls when they have some health issues such as diabetes and they do not hesitate to consume these drinks as much as they want when they are healthy. A further reason is that companies add into the drinks a wide range of different sugar ingredients to increase the quality of flavor. For example, cokes contain extremely high levels of sugar and this level is increased every year to make them more appealing to the customers. Consequently, the tastes of these beverages are so progressed that in some cases it leads to addiction especially in children.

Nevertheless, several steps can be taken to decrease the consumption of sugar-based drinks. Firstly, the government should inform and alert people about the impacts and try to provide incentives to direct people to healthier drinks. For example, they can reduce the costs of fruit juices in markets or apply very generous discounts for vegetables. Secondly, some legal arrangements for drink companies should be introduced and these producers should be subjected to legal restrictions about the amount of sugar content. If the sugar ingredient can be reduced in these drinks, it would not cause serious problems for ​human health.

In conclusion, a plethora number of people prefer to drink sugar-based drinks rather than other kinds of beverages. There are several laying reasons behind this situation.
