The map provided illustrates the development of the Chorleywood village near London whose population has increased steadily since the mid 19th century.
Overall, there are three types of transportation pathways, which are main road, motorway and railway. The development started around the main road, and eastern side of the village was the most recently developed.
The two main roads are located horizontally and vertically. They intersect at the north-west corner of the map. The main road was built in 1970 and it goes from north to south while intersecting one of the main roads in north-east corner. The railway that was built in 1909 intersects one of the main roads and the motorway, while going through different developed areas.

There is a sentment that mobile phones are as antisocial as smoking. As smoking is banned in specific places, mobiles should be banned too. Although there are strong arguments supporting this statement, I do not believe that phones should be banned. As mobile is arguably the most imortant communicaton device, banning phones will completely cut a person off from the world for a certain period of time.
Using mobiles in public places and gatherings is certainly a problematic issue. Social occasions are organised with the sole purpose of public interactions. People from various backgrounds and different families gather in some place to celebrate something or try to spend quality time. If someone is busy with his/her phone, the person will obviously be distracted and will not be able to truly connect with anyone. As addictive as the phones are, they hamper the harmony of an event because most of the people are not really paying attention. For example, many support banning phones from concerts or sports events, as people tend to record the event instead of enjoying them.
However, banning phones in such places can not be a solution. Mobile is an integral part of our communication system. It connects us with the world and keeps us up-to-date. The original intention of inventing the mobile phones was to communicate with people instantly, regardless of the location. Forbidding the use of phone defeats this initial purpose. Once I was in an accident but could not reach my father, as he was in a meeting where phones are fobidden.
In concluding remarks, using phones should be minimized in soical gatherings by raising individual awareness. Also, the user can be given a fair warning, if his/her usage is causing problems. But unanimous banning should be avoided by the authorities as it will bring more harm than good for anyone.
