Writing task 1

The provided graph demonstrates the global price changes of food and oil from the year 2000 to 2011. The blue and brown line represent food price index and oil price respectively.

The general overview is that the prices of oil and food in 2011 are much higher than the prices in 2000. These prices have risen over the course of time and there are some major fluctuations around 2008-2010. Also, the food price was lower than the oil price in 2000, whereas the oil price is lower in 2011.

The food price index was around 90 points in 2000. It was rather steady but there is a slight drop to around 85 points in 2002-2003 range. Then the price rose rather quickly and there is an exponential rise to 225 points in 2007-2008 period. The it increased steadily till it reached around 230 over the years, intersecting the food price index line several times. In 2009, it dropped below 120. Writing task 2

In this modern era, some progressive teachers support the idea of international student exchange. The common perception is that this is beneficial for all the teenage students. Although there are some major disadvantages, I still believe this point of view is true, and the advantages will outweigh these disadvantages. The education sector needs to be globalised to cope up with the advancement of technology.

International student exchange programmes are made possible by the cooperation of multiple schools or colleges around the world. The main goal of these programmes is interconnecting the schools via exchange of students who are willing to shift countries. The participating schools set their specific requirements. If a student meets these criteria, he/she gets exchanged between two schools. Generally, students with higher potential in a particular skill are subject to these exhchange programmes. This provides the chance to reach full potential, and flourish in life. Moreover, the student exchange also creates the opportunity of cultural exchange. It is often seen that people from diverse environments are more accepting, resulting in the growth of empathy towards others.

However, there are disadvantages too. A student shifting to a newer country faces a cultural barrier as well as the language barrier. There is a slight risk of getting bullied, as not everyone in the new school will be welcoming. Furthermore, the student might suffer from anxiety or depression. One of my cousins went to Rocky Beach High School in LA. He suffered from seperation anxiety, and had to take therapy for 3 months.

In concluding remarks, the problems of exchange programmes can not be taken lightly as they can have heavy impact on a person's mental or physical health. But once these issues are dealth with, the exchange students are destined to have a better shot at bright future, and that's the main purpose of the programme.
