A lot of organisations believe that employees working in companies should dress appropriately, while others think that proper dress code is just part of the appearance and what matters best is the work quality. In my opinion, both statements are right, however, following companies dress code will be more benefecial. In this essay, I will explain why having a good appearance benefits both the workers and the companies.
To begin with, most of the companies nowadays hire people because of employees qualifications and not merely on how they look, most especially those workers that does not need to face customers. For instance, healthcare practitioners like Medical Technologist. They are hired because they are qualified and not because of their appearance, yet hospital companies require employees to follow proper dress code, like scrub suits because it is the proper clothes to wear while on duty for safety purposes.
On the other hand, some companies oblige their employees to follow proper dress codes since it is part of their job and looking badly will never be acceptable. For example, flight attendants in all airlines. Airline companies allocate budgets on uniform for the mere fact that their employees will perfectly look good. Some companies may not even accept applicants who does not reach their qualifications. They believe that appearance is what matters most to them and skills on the other hand can be learned.
In conclusion, both statements are right because work quality and dressing properly should always get along together. However, companies have set protocols for looking good by following dress code since they think of the overall wellness of the company and to the employees. Looking good means better physical and mental health, which is infact, the most important thing to produce a good quality of work.
