Writing task 2

Humans tend to build habits. It is said that if we do a particular thing for 21 days, it turns into a habit. Habits could be good or bad depending on their nature. Good habits of course are good for oneself but bad habits tend to degrade the quality of life and sometimes even impact the health of the concerned person. One such bad habit that people easily get upon is smoking. This habit of smoking is not just limited to a city or a state, but it is a concern across the globe.

Smoking is often the most common bad habit that people tend to build. Now, from where do people get the habit of smoking, a question arises? Usually, it starts off when a person is merely an adult, enjoying life and one bad influence offers the first cigarette. Being at the very start of adult life, without thinking about consequences and out of peer pressure, the person gets along and takes the very first taste of it and from that moment the phase of addiction starts. Smoking then becomes an integral part of their life. Some need it on a daily or weekly basis, some need it when they are having a tough time or stressed out days. Some need it while partying. It all depends from person to person.

It is prominently advertised everywhere, from the packs of cigarettes to huge advertisement boards and even before the movie in theatres saying smoking is injurious to health yet that doesn't stop people from smoking. There is a serious need of reducing smoking habits in our society. Starting off with the production and sales, cigarettes should be slowly phased out, its a huge business but companies should think of their customer's health before profits. At an individual level, people should practice yoga and meditation to help them stay away from smoking. There are a lot of rehabilitation centers that help people get out of this habit. At the municipal or government level, easy sale of cigarettes and smoking should be strictly prohibited.

There are always ways to quit a habit but that all depends on the will of that person. If that person is determined to quit smoking, he/she will be able to. The success might not be immediate but if the person sticks to it then success will be definite.
