Writing task 1

The chart illustrates the levels of air pollution by various causes such as electricity generation and transport in four different countries in 2021.

Overall, the gases emitted as part of industrial and transport uses are the major reasons for the air pollution in these four countries.

In china, the higher amount of air pollution is caused by emission of poisonous gases from industries, which contributes to 80 PPM. The air pollution caused by smoke from vehicles is 70 PPM and due to electricity generation is nearly 60 PPM. In the USA, transportation causing approximately 60 PPM of air pollution whereas the industry and electricity generation contribute equal amount to the pollution, which sums up to nearly 30 PPM. The contamination of air in the Japan due to transport and industry is 30 PPM and 42 PPM respectively. It is quite suprising to see that level of air pollution in the Australia due to these three sources are nearly in equal amounts, which is 18 PPM.

The proportion of air pollution is different in these four countries but the factors causing this almost remains the same.

The dangers of smoking are well known, yet many people continue with this habit.

What are the causes of this? How can we reduce smoking in society?

Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Writing task 2

Smoking is very detrimental to health and it causes lung cancer which ultimately leads to death. Though it takes long time to show symptoms, it will always happen. However, many people chose to ignore this fact and like to smoke. In this essay, we will discuss about common causes of smoking and measures that needs to be taken to tackle this issue.

Firstly, most people who smoke tobacco start during their teenage years or as a young adult. For some teens, it a way to rebel against their parents and showing independence. For instance, if a parent disapproves of a situation then child starts to disobey the parent and begins smoking as way to appear cool. On the other hand, most adults smoke because of routine and because it helps them relax or cope stress. Because of the chemicals like nicotine in the cigarette, they feel the adrenaline rush and divert their mind from all the tensions. For example, most of the working people are seen smoking during their regular breaks in a day as they feel work pressure.

One thing that can stop people from smoking is banning the cigarettes and tobacco. With this action, people will start looking for other alternatives to cope with their stress and might indulge in some good sports to divert their attention. For instance, after few days with no smoke, people will realise the anxiety it was cauing them and thus start to look at a good alternative. Other measure that can be taken is raising awareness on the serious consequences that will be caused because of smoking. The government bodies can start a campaign to raise awareness on the dangers associated with smoking.

To conclude, there are many causes of smoking. This could be controlled by taking important steps such as a complete ban of tobacco and awareness on the consequences associated with it.
