Some countries achieve international sports by building specialised facilities to train top athletes, instead of providing sports facilities that everyone can use. Do you think this is positive or negative development?
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
You should write at least 250 words.
Some of the top athletes are favoured over their counterpart, the less achieved athletes by counrties where they are provided with top notch facilites while disregarding any less achieved person by not providing public facilities for all to use. In my personal opinion this should not be the case but in this essay I will provide both views of this issue.
To start with, the top athletes aren't necessarly the one with the best talents. They could just be well off and had a better opportunity. Meaning that athletes who might have a better talent than top athletes might not have as much opportunity. This will lead to less talents within the country and less competition in the field of sports. Therefore providing public sport facilities for all will increase the talents in the field leading to increase.
On the other hand, focusing on top athletes ensures that the country isn't wasting resources on mere chances. The chances that a random person with better talent than a top athlete isn't that high. Furthermore, the person with talent might be unintersted in that field. In addition to the country be more mindful of there resources, the top athletes might not have the best talents, but they do certianly have a talent above others. Hence it could be more efficient to develop there talents in specialised facilities.
All in all, I still believe that making public facilites for everyone is better than making specialised facilites for top athletes even though its has it's pros and it's cons.
