Summarize the information by describing the main features of the charts and making comparisons where appropriate.

Writing Task 1

The pie chart compares the percentage of housing owned and rented in the UK in 1991 and 2007. Overall, the percentage of home ownership not only remains the highest proportion, but also seen an increace.

First and foremost, the percentage of home ownership was over fifty percent in 1991, then increaced up to about two-thirds of the homes in UK. Based on the chart, it seems that more home ownership based housing has been built over the course from 1991 to 2007.

In addition, the percentage of housing for private renting remains fairly constant in 1991 and 2007, the percentage remains in between ten to twenty percent.

On the contrary, both social renting and social housing shows a decreace in the percentage fof housing owned. In 1991, the social renting occupied just about a quarter of the percentage for total housing, then decreaced by about half of the pecentage, making the percentage comparable to that of private renting's. Last but not least, the percentage for social housing was also halved in 1991 and 2007, occupied only about 5% of the homes in UK. Overall, the percentage occupied for social housing was the least in both 1991 and 2007.

In some countries people spend long hours at work. Why does this happen? Is it positive or negative development

You should write at least 250 words.

As a matter of fact, there are some countries spent long hours at work. Some people think that it brings benifits, while others think it's a bane for developent.

To begin with, the reason why some people spend long hours at work is related to the type of work they are involved with. For example, doctors, nurses in hospitals. It's commonplace to see them working on call for 24 hours, if not 36. This is because many hospitals require their staff to able to be present in case of emergencies, catering services. With people working long hours in certain work, it ensures that citizens of countries can be provided with sufficient services 24/7. Another reason for long hours is keeping the productivity active. People working in industrial and commercial countries are likely to spend longer hours at work as manufactures and business companies can operate without delays.

While this practice poses benifits for industries, it brings detremental consequences to labour.

First of all, the longer workers are forced to work, the more deprived their productivity. As workers receive much less rest due to work hours, they are likely to peform efficiently, if not the dedication to work, even leading to errors while working. Take bus drivers in Hong Kong as an example, there were many bus accidents related to long working hours hampering the bus driver's congonitive function. Hence, spending long hours at work dosen't help productivity in the long run.

In conclusion, spending long hours at work brings positive and negative development for indurstires, economy and workers. They ought to strike a balance between work productivity and people's health. To solve the problem, countries should put funds into education for training more labour and provide support for long hour workers to bridge the gap between health and work. In addition, manufactures industries should also ought employ the use of machinery to reduce the labour usage, while improving productivity.
