Certain people believe that learning English in native-speakers places is the most appropriate way. However, it is also believed that there are still so many things that we can do to learn the language. I completely agree with this statement.

Having English skills is really crucial in this globalization and modern era. Students even have been learning English since they were in Elementary school and it becomes a compulsory subject almost in all countries in the world. For people who have enough money, deciding to visit English-speaking countries to study English might not be a hard thing to do. Apart from the budget, learning English in an environment which can support its learners to speak English would help their ability to increase drastically. This is because they need to use the language all the time to communicate with other people in their circle. They would not only be fluent in it fastly but also could learn the accent which might not be gotten if they do not visit the country directly.

However, there are also certain things that people can do to learn English without staying in the place where the native speakers are. Activities such as reading English news, listening to English songs or watching English movies without subtitles could definitely increase their English skills gradually. Moreover, in this digital era, society tends to use their smartphone in their everyday life and they can easily connect with people all over the world. This makes learning English much easier in light of the fact that people in this era can make friends and practice English with native English speakers through applications such as Hello, Speaky, Interpals, and many more. This obviously gives certain benefits for them. Instead of spending much money to meet native speakers and practice with them, now they can use their own smartphones to learn and practice. Thus, there are so many things learners can do to improve their English ability.

To sum up, learning English in this era can be done in various ways. For those who have enough money, visiting an English-speaking country might be the best way to learn and they can do that easily. Meanwhile, for the other, they might need to think twice to decide to visit the country due to the lack of money. However, there are still so many things that we can do to increase our English capability by ourselves, particularly in this modern era.
