The multi-column chart - plotted between the years 2004 and 2007 - shows the British Emigration to selected destinations. It shows the emigration numbers, in the thousands, for five countries namely Australia, Spain, New Zealand, the USA, and France.

The year 2007 has seen the least emigrations for all the respective countries. Upon further inspection, it can be seen that this decrease is always preceded by a higher emigration in the year 2006. Among all, the numbers in New Zealand have consistently decreased each year.

Each year, most people have chosen Australia as their desired destination over the other countries. In 2006, 51,000 people chose to emigrate to Australia, the highest figure in any given year or country. This goes to show how much British emigrants find it to be an eye candy.

New Zealand, on the other hand, has sparked the least interest in the British populace. Since 2004, there has been a steady fall in the emigrations, starting from 23,000 passengers in the first year and dropping to just 20,000 in the final year.

Task 2

Is learning the English language in an English-speaking country the best way or are there viable alternatives to this? This essay will argue the statement, agree with it, and give reasons to support it with evidence and examples.

Learning English, like any other language, will always be easier when done in an English-speaking country. One of the biggest reasons is the fact that some native speakers take up literature as their field of study with English as their major. This is usually accompanied by years of history of the language, the change it has undergone over the years and explanations/reasons behind them, thus enabling a deeper understanding of why a language is used the way it is presently. Not only does this make it easier for new learners to get a deeper level of understanding of the language, but they also have the option to get help from experts.

The second biggest factor that plays in learning a language is to surround oneself with the language in all possible means of media and, most importantly, communication. The phrase "practice makes perfect" holds true especially when learning something new, and learning a new language is no exception. Being able to communicate with people who speak the language and consuming media play a vital role in perfecting fluency.

Having said that, in this day of digital communication and the internet, no resource is unavailable to the masses. Mobile applications and streaming platforms have made it easy for anyone to access their desired content. This applies to studying the English language as well. As long as passion exists, the means will find their way to the end.

Finding ways to study a subject of interest is no more a matter of challenge, but a matter of interest. This essay argued the statement with full agreement.
