The chart compares the number of British people who migrated from the UK to five different destinations (Australia, Spain, New Zealand, USA and France) from 2004 to 2007.
Overall, the total number of migrations are lower at the end of the period with Australia consistently being the leading recipient of UK based immigrants, Spain being second. France, New Zealand and USA started neck and neck but the by the end of the study France was the country receiving the least number of people from Britain.
In 2004, Australia got about 42,000 of all British emigrants and the number stayed consistent ending at almost 44,000 in 2007, but experienced a steep rise in the year 2006 of over 10,000 from 2005. Like Australia, France too saw an abrupt increase of UK based immigrants but in a different year, between 2004 and 2005, from 22,000 to 33,000 but then declined to less than 20,000 by 2007.
Spain and New Zealand steadily declined as the destination of choice through the 4 years, from about 35,000 to 28,000, and 23,000 to 20,000, respectively. The drop for New Zealand being a little more muted. The USA showed an erratic pattern but a general net decrease.

English is the global language of out time. Learning it in an English-speaking region is definitely advantageous but not a necessity. I absolutely agree with that narrative and in this essay we will examine a few reasons why I believe it to be true.
Firstly, we live in the age of technology where every resource of learning we require is available to us. The smart phone, the computer and the internet has made education, language or otherwise, accessable to all people in every part of the world. For instance, I personally was not brought up in an english-speaking region but due to those tools being readily available I did not have a language barrier communicating in English, even with the native speakers of the language much later in life. In short, technology has placed knowledge in the palm of our hands, and it is vertainly easier to learn English today for us then it once was for our predecessors.
Secondly, English is the medium for deliverance of all higher education, which results in plentiful exposure to the language. The books used in schools, colleges and universities are predominently in English, and teaching is carried out in the same language. This system ensured that I read, write, speak and understand English through my years of education even if it was not my language of choice at home. In other words, it is harder to not have a good grasp of the language with how integrated it is in our lives, regardless of the country,
To summarize, yes, it would be easier to learn English if it was our native language but it is not impossibleto excel at the language without that added benefit. There are multiple methods in place to assist and it is down to our individual effort.
