[Versha K] Writing Practice Test 513717

Task 1

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The diagrams below show the existing ground floor plan of a house and a proposed plan for some building work.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write at least 150 words.

Writing task 1

The images illustrate the current and proposed floor maps of a residential dwelling's ground floor that is ready to undergo renovation. The comparison of these two images is discussed further.

As we gain entrance through the main door, the ground floor currently houses a hall with staircase providing access to the first floor and doors on either side at the end, leading to kitchen and living room, on the left and right sides respectively. It also features a storage under the stairs.

The floor plan for renovation proposes to integrate the hall area into the living room so that the main entrance door opens directly into a much more spacious living area. The staircase has been advised to be moved along the back wall and built in a U-shape pattern. Right next to the entrance door is an internal door on the left, leading to the kitchen, which remains the same size but has an inclusion of a big kitchen furniture along most of the kitchen walls.

To conclude, the new plan aims at creating a much bigger living space and a re-structured stair-case, omitting the right wall and storage under the stairs in the process. However, it furnishes better storage options in the shape of the kitchen furniture.

Writing task 2

Education is of surmount importance in the upbringing of children, and whether it should be accomplished at school or in the comforts of one's home, has been a matter of heated debates for several years, if not decades. This essay inspects the advantages of both modes of learning and furnishes my opinion in the conclusion.

Many people hold the mind-set that the early tender years of a child's life belong in the safe environment of his/home home, surrounded by loved ones who can monitor all the aspects of development and keep negative influences of the society at bay. Benefits of this mode of distance learning can be manifold. Parents/carers understand their children the best and they are the most equipped to deliver lessons in a manner that their children follow adequately. Simultaneously, they can keep a close eye on their physical and mental wellbeing. This is especially true in case of students with special needs, for whom, the school environment can sometimes be too distracting and hostile. In my personal experience, I have witnessed so many kids with additional learning needs flourishing with distance education at homes after having spent years struggling in school system.

On the other hand, a vast majority of people choose to enrol their kids at school, owing to the multiple advantages this mode has to offer. Teachers at school are professionally qualified to deal with the learning needs of a growing mind, employing strategies, methods and resources that cannot be well-known or readily accessible to all regular parents. Moreover, schools provide opportunities for the kids to build and improve their social skills, participate in healthy competitions, develop valuable friendships and develop robust character values. Cherry on the top is the fact that sending kids to school allow both parents to have fulfilling careers at work.

To conclude, although both modes of receiving education have numerous merits, I tend to incline towards the importance of attending schools for the sole reason that schools can provide a better environment for a well-balanced and holistic upbringing and education of children.
