[Jhanvi S] Writing Practice Test 510640
Task 1
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The diagrams below show the existing ground floor plan of a house and a proposed plan for some building work.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
You should write at least 150 words.

The two floor plans depict the changes that can be made to the ground floor of a house. The first layout illustrates the current design and the second one shows the alterations proposed.
It can be observed from both layouts that the main changes made are with respect to the living room. The living room has been extended by the breaking down of one of the internal walls. This allows the entrance door to open right into the passage to the living room. Further, the kitchen is to be furnished by the addition of furniture, and two internal doors are proposed to allow entry through the main door itself.
Moving on to the hall, the extension of the living room will leave no space for a hall that was initially right by the entrance. The two internal doors opening into the living room and kitchen are broken down to create space for a bigger staircase which also leads to the elimination of the storage space that was originally under the stairs. An internal wall separates the proposed staircase from the kitchen.
Overall, it can be inferred that the new floor layout suggests changes that will allow the main entry door to open directly into the lving room, increase the living room space, widen the staircase and refurbish the kitchen completely.

In today's day and age it is very common to find a variety of methods or ways to gain knowledge and educate ourselves. The two most common schooling methods are the traditional schooling type where children learn in instituitions and homeschooling where children learn from the comfort of their home from family members or tutors. So the question arises, which is better homeschooling or traditional schooling?
Let's discuss some advantages and disadvantages of each. Homeschooling in particular is a great way to teach children that have learning difficulties and therefore require more personal interaction. This method saves on a lot of fees and is a viable solution for those staying in regions where schools may not be functioning or if the fees is quite high. However the downside is that a lot of these students donot get the same amount of exposure that most students that go to school get. Which means less involvement in extra-curriculars that are essential for the development of creative and analytical skills. With almost no interaction with other students, the honing of leadership and communication skills is ignored. They are mostly confined to one particular perspective as compared to schools where critical thinking and different questions from students is encouraged.
Traditional schooling on the other hand motivates students to develop different opinions and imaginative skills. The large student body enables discussions and interaction with peers which is beneficial in terms of making new friends and participation in social activities. All careers require continous communication which can only be learned through hands on experience with groups of people. The wide range of extra-curriculars help students get more engaged and facilitate creative problem-solving. However, the downside of traditional schooling is not only high cost but the element of bullying and harrassment. Many children have to face unpleasant circumstances due to their peers at school. This can have a negative impact on the childs self-esteem and mental health. Bullying is not right and measures need to be taken to stop this to allow students to cherish their school experience and grow.
I would like to conclude by saying that irrespective of the advantages and disadvatages of each, both traditional schooling and homeschooling can have rewarding impacts on children depending on their personality. In my opinion, traditional schooling is better for those students that thrive on communication with students and dont require as much personal attention. While homechooling is much more ideal for those that live in remote areas or thrive on less interaction with peers and more with teachers.
