Writing task 1

Pizza is the most popular dish serving in western countries, but not all people know how to make a homemade pizza. The illustration on the left shows the materials and the steps of making dough for a pizza.

First of all, the person should prepare 500 grams of flour, 325 grams of water, 2 teaspoon of salt, and half teaspoon of dry active yeast, and put all the materials in a stand mixer. Secondly, the person is going to set the mixing machine for 2 minutes at slow motion, change the setting to 5 minutes at mediate motion, and change the setting back to slow motion for another 2 minutes. Thirdly, after mixing the dough, the person should place the dough steadily for 2 hours waiting for the dough to ferment (the dough should double in size after 2 hours) and work the dough to remove all air bubbles. Lastly, the dough will be cut into 3 equal pieces. In other words, the recipe will turn out to be 3 pizza doughs.

Even though some of the steps mentioning above involve machines, people who follow this recipe can still mix the dough with their own hands. Making pizza dough is not as difficult as people presume. With right amount of each material and correct steps of making dough, anyone can make dough for pizzas.

Task 2

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic.

Some people think that it is more beneficial to take part in sports which are played in teams, like football. But others think taking part in individual sports is better, like swimming. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

Even though some people believe participating in sports that are played in teams helps them be more collaborative, I, on the other hand, take another stance--taking part in individual sports actually trains people harder and offers better benefits.

While people play sports on a team, it's inevitable for them to compare themselves to the others. However, this kind of competetion cycle serves more disadvantages than advantages. When players cannot focus on their own sport skills, the performance of the whole team will be hard to improve despite of their excellent collaboration. Adversely, playing individual sports does not need to compete with others but yourself: players are practicing and competing with the past-self. In this case, they are able to be more responsible for their performance and become more ambitious of challenging their limits.

Moreover, it's almost impossible for a coach to keep an eye on every player on a team. Most of the time, the coach of a team-based sport will only concentrate on the overall team weaknesses instead of an individual's weaknesses. In contrast, the coach training an individual sports can focus on each of their players' techniques, which ultimately makes the practice be more efficient and meaningful. For instance, as an ex-swimming-competitor, I could feel that the coach gave more useful advice to me when I was swimming alone--he could hardly pick out distinct posture mistakes that we made while we were swimming on a row!

Doing individual sports gives people who want to be professional players a greater opportunity to succeed. Individual sports assure that every moment the person spends on the practice is not wasted by being ignored or comparing themselves to their teammates. After all, taking part in individual sports is more beneficial than participating in team-based sports.
