Writing task 1

Between 2009 and 2013, the mobile phone market changed significantly. In this time, some of the brands swapped places in the ranking of popularity. Firstly, Samsung, which was the second-most popular mobile phone brand in 2009, almost doubled its sales volume by 2013, selling 450 million phones, thus becoming the most popular mobile phone brand on the planet. Samsung's evolution in the phone market contrasts with Nokia's evolution; in 2009, Nokia sold almost 450 million phones, but in 2013, its sales declined to 250 million units.

However, the most impressive growth in this industry belongs to Apple. In 2009, it was the last brand in terms of units sold, with almost 25 million, but by 2011, it became the third-largest phone brand in the world, surpassing LG by a little margin. In 2013, Apple delivered 150 million mobile phones.

Another 'declining' company on the market is LG. From the third-biggest company on the market in 2009, it became the fourth-largest in 2011 and its declining trend continued after that.

Another growing player in the industry is the Chinese company ZTE. From 2009, when it delivered 50 million phones, its count grew to approximately 60-70 million units in 2013. However, given its slow growth, ZTE became the last mobile phone brand in this ranking.

Writing task 2

In my opinion, both lifestyles are acceptable because every person decides what he/she wants to do with his/her life. So, my advice for the people is 'Do what your heart dictates you to do!'

Firstly, I will approach the subject of people who think that change is very important in someone's life. This kind of lifestyle, of embracing change and taking part in it, is the way that helped humanity to evolve a lot ever since its beginnings. This is linked with the capacity of humans to adapt during crisis times, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many of the activities which we are used to moved online. Also, changes in someone's life could make the respective person healthier, for example, giving up smoking, drinking alcohol, exercising etc. Another example of change is taking up a volunteership; by doing this, you will make many friends and you will be glad to have helped a person in need without asking for something in return, because this is what volunteering means. But, above all, changes in the life of a person mean that a person has to spet out of his/her comfort zone.

Secondly, another kind of people is represented by ones who like doing the same things. However, this could be viewed as a bad thing, because people who adopt this lifestyle are more vulnerable to future changes that might occur near them. These are also the people who have a high likelihood to stay in their comfort zone for a long time. Even if a comfortable lifestyle seems to be less risky than an ever-changing lifestyle, a comfortable person could miss out many opportunities that are offered by this constantly-changing world and, as in many cases in history, monotony is not a good thing.

In the end, I want to say that these two lifestyles, as everything on this planet, have their advantages and disadvantages, and the lifestyle choices are up to everyone as I cannot decide for the people next to me what is good or bad for them. So, my final message is that if you want to enjoy many opportunities, do not avoid taking part in change. But if you feel comfortable with avoiding change, no problem, it is up to you!
