Writing task 1

The given bar diagram shows us global mobile phone sales by different brands between 2009 and 2013. It is evident from glancing over this chart that some brands have grown progressively over this time period while others have declined drastically.

Samsung has clearly been the winner here. In 2009 they had around 230 sales . This number consistently increased and by the time it was 2013 they had almost doubled that number.

Apple has done a tremendous job in securing their market as well. 150 sales in 2013 may not mirror Samsung's numbers , but when you see their minimal number of sales in 2009 , the quickness of their progress becomes apparent . Just in about two years , Apple's sales grew exponentially to almost four times in 2011. This surge in sales plateaued a bit after 2011 .

The company that lost the most in this time span was Nokia. In 2009 , Nokia was dominating the cell phone industry with close to 450 sales. But with Samsung and Apple taking over the market , Nokia's sales dropped to almost half of that in 4 years.

Other brands like LG and ZTE have a relatively lower but more consistent sales numbers in those four years. LG has maintained their sales number close to 100 and ZTE have kept it at around 50 .

Writing task 2

Man has been debating the pros and cons of change since we can remember . To this day , the concept remains a subjective one. It is completely relative and depends totally on the individual person . While some people are open to change in daily life , others remain averse to it.

People who are against the idea of change generally prefer a stable , static environment around them. They function optimally in these conditions and are generally at ease with their constant surroundings . These people become extremely uncomfortable when changes are introduced in their lives. It is because with these changes comes the feeling of unfamiliarity , which these people are not accustomed to. Thus they choose to live life in an unchanged way as much as possible.

On the other hand , there are people who love and want change in their lives . The repetitive and monotonous structure of everyday life is too tedious for these people who require excitement , adventures and action in their lives. Most of them welcome the idea of change . They love to explore different avenues in life and experience varied things instead of living life in a constant and fixed manner.

As far as I am concerned , my allegiances regarding this matter lie with the latter type of people described above. Life is too short and unpredictable to go through without multiple experiences . Change is a necessity for me every couple of years. I feel more interested and better about my life when I prevent myself from getting into a rut and keep things random. My innate nature , which loves to explore , travel and experience, will never be able to compromise with a static lifestyle.

In conclusion , I would like to say that being open to changes in lifestyle is not an objective thing at all. It will always be a reflection of the individual's personality and how that person is comfortable living life.
