You should write at least 250 words.

Sections of the public think that it is beneficial to host international sports events whiles some are of the opinion that, it is bad. This essay will discuss both views and take a stand.

First of all, the organization of sports events brings about infastractural development in the host country as old stadia are renovated and new ones constructed. Good roads may also be constructed to link the venues of the event. Apart from improvement in infrastructure, youth in country will also be gingered to venture into sports as a sports as a profession. Also, the maltitudes of people is an avenue for business men to sell their wares which is good for the economy of the country in question. Ghana for instance saw msassive develpment in sports facilities and growth in interest of youth to engage in sporting activities after hosting the 2008 Afrincan Cup of Nations.

On the other hand, the influx of people from different part of the host country may lead to the spread of diseases brought in by partcipants of the sports event and supporters alike. Also, there may be pressure on social amenities at the time of the event and possible rise in crime rate. This is true for South Africa when they hosted the 2010 world cup. The number of robberies increased during the period and the local hotels could barely cater for the fans who thronged the country to watch and cheer their respective countries to victory.

In conclusion, though there are disadvantages to hosting international sports events, I am of the opinion that hosting an international sports event is good as the advantages far outweigh the bad aspects which are often temporal.
