Computers has become one of the greatest invention of mankind. Some people believe they should be used in the classrooms for the purpose of teaching while some argue that it will have a negative imact on the students. In this essay, we will discuss about advantages and disavantages of introducing computers in classrooms.
Firstly, computers can help students in better and deeper understanding of the subjects. It is a human pyschology to remember the things which are seen rather the things which are heard. With the help of the computers, teachers can display the related photos, videos and examples of the topics which helps students to easily connect with the concept. For instance, the process of photo synthesis if explained in a traditional teaching method, has a very less chance of students understanding it. However, if it showed to them using animated videos then it can be grasped effectively. Thus, the computers give students an effortless grip on the subjects.
Secondly, the drawback of this technology is when used constantly students can develop a dependence on this tool. The excessive use of computers are said to reduce the creativity and thinking capabilities of the pupil. For example, students who are never required to do math without a calculator lose the ability to solve math problems manually. Students must practice these basic skills regularly without the need of any technology to ensure that their skills are not inhibited.
To conclude, the use of computers in classrooms causes easy and simplified understanding of the subjects. But with these advantages comes certain disadvantages that could affect the students creativity. However, the potential problems could be solved if students are taught of its correct use.
