Writing Task 1

This picture illustrates how sustainable energy is manufactured in a hydroelectric dam.

To start with, a dam is constructed along a river so as to accumulate water and hence produce a reservoir. The accumulated water goes through a filtered pathway at the bottom of the reservoir so as to remove any debris. Afterwards, the water enters through a penstock, which is a pipe-like structure and the flow of the water turns a turbine. The latter then supply the generator found in the powerhouse.

Power lines are connected to the generator The power lines then supply the different areas.

For remote areas, connecting towers are constructed and power lines are interconnected so as to provide electricity to those areas.

The flow of the water is actually a continuous flow. After the water turns the turbine, the water continues its pathway through the pipe and pursue its course to the river.

Writing Task 2

The outer space is indeed magnificent and its wonders are yet to be fully discovered. Missions to space are as a matter of fact increasing, However, due to scarce resources, many argue that more important issues must be tackled first and money should be less invested in space missions.

On one hand, I believe that outer space holds the key to civilisation. The various problems that earth is facing such as global warming, overpopulation, antibiotic resistance, limited resources, tells us that the future of the earth is indeed uncertain. Various missions to discover a new home is made so as to ensure the existence of humanity, Moreover, outer space holds the key to our creation. Understanding where we come from and why we are the only living things in this universe may also help to overcome some of the problems that we are dealing with such as how to adapt to the climatic change that we are all facing,

On the other hand, expenses on such missions are exorbitant. Instead of spending that much money on the uncertain outcome of a mission, money should be spent more wisely in order to solve the problems that we are presently facing.

Health care system, as seen in this COVID-19 pandemic, proved that our system holds many lacunes and in order to avoid such health disaster again, our government should be set up a more secured system for his population and more money should hence be invested.

To sum up, missions to space are important but in my opinion, priorities should be set up. Fundings should be intelligently allocated so as to tackle the emerging problems that our society are facing.
