Some people think that physical strength is important for success in sport, while other people think that mental strength is more important. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
You should write at least 250 words.
When it comes to sportsmanship and in physical sports only few percent of the athletes achieve exceptional milestones such as Olympic medal and World championship. Why does the vast majority of them fail to succeed? Although they trained even harder or perhaps much more than those who won competition. This raises us a question on how does physical strength varies with mental strength? Which is more important and how does it applies to everyday life of a sportsman.
Lets take an example: We have one sportsman A who had happened to born with natural gifts, tall, muscular and has very high physical strength and is quite very arrogant and proud of himself. On the other hand we have sportsman B, who is no doesn't have any variables the sportsman A already have, but what makes sportsman B is his commitment and vision to succeed in his field. And he is very aware what his physical disadvantages therefore he trains more than 10 hours day, 7 days a week and every day of the year. He not only trains very hard, but he trains very smart too, he does not push himself to limits but he always tend to expand his limits. Because he found out that the physical strength is only limited by the mental strength therefore he practices yoga and healthy diet, takes appropriate breaks during the training hours. Keeps his mental health. Where as the sportsman A trains more than the variant B, he trains 12 hours a day, always pushes his physical strength to limits, only focuses on his physical strength, pumping up his abs and muscles.
On the Olympics day, the winner was announced with all judges gave phenomenal scores to the winner. And it was the variant B. To much everyone's surprise B had much inferior physical strength comparison to what variant A's. But what had made him a winner is his mentality, he had full control over his physical capabilities, used his strength to every possible ways. Resulting him to become a flawless winner. Why did the Variant A lose even though he had much superior physical strength? It is because he couldn't take full control over his physical strength in fact, his physical aspects controlled his mentality. Thus affecting his final performance.
When it comes to conclusion, it is not a matter of fact whether the physical strength is important than the mental strength or not, but rather understanding how exactly does these two are related through consistency. Physical strength is a great tool where a good mentality is a user who controls it. Thus "you are only as good as you can ever think of". Meaning that your mental strength defines how you will succeed in any field, not only just sports.
