The line chart provides information, comparing the amount of Australian students studying at Australian universities to foreign students attending Australian universities over 10 years, starting from 2001.
Overall, it is clear that the total number of local students increased gradually but fresh students remained almost the same during the period. On the other hand, students abroad extremely risen over the specified period in both aspects.
Australian universities had 20 times more local students than overseas students in 2001, however, Australian students reached their peak in 2006 with 600 thousand students and remained like that until the end of the period. Meanwhile, overseas students joining Australian universities kept rising to 80 thousand students.
In contrast, fresh high school Australian graduates, who are going to join universities, stayed at around 200 thousand students for the whole period, but new abroad joiners increased in numbers from almost 15 thousand to 40 thousand students by 2010.
Task 2
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Write about the following topic:
Some people think that hosting an international sports event is good for the country, while some people think it is bad. Discuss both views and state your opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
You should write at least 250 words.
International sports events have gained high popularity among people in the last few years, such as the Olympics, and the FIFA World Cup. Many countries are fighting over hosting such events. Even though some people think that hosting them is beneficial, others have different opinions in their minds. From my own experience, I could say that hosting these events would benefit the country in many ways.
The increase in demand would increase the price, that is what the mouth of disagreeing people says when they are asked about what would happen if their country hosted an international event. Even if it is a true statement, that does not mean it would affect locals. When a country holds an event, it would naturally increase the price of everything, like accommodation, food, entry fees, and much more, to compensate for what was paid to get the event in the first place. This costly life is why people hate it when their country is trying to host an international event. Despite that, hosting such great exhibitions would give far more positive aspects than negative ones.
The passion and excitement while experiencing a worldwide event that is held every 4 years like the FIFA World Cup, cannot be described in words, not only that but the country's transportation would be better by the end of the event. Many high-rise buildings, parks, and restaurants would be constructed with specialized standards expecting newcomers from all over the world, however transportation would be the key role for all the other things to succeed. For anyone to reach their destination, they have to use one of the transportation methods in the hosting country, whether it is a train, metro, car, or plane. Hence, prioritizing to make a better transportation system is key to success.
In conclusion, if a country holds an international event would benefit from it despite what people think.
