Reporting of crimes and other kinds of violent news on television and in newspapers can have adverse consquences. This kind of information should be restricted from being shown in the media. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
You should write at least 250 words.
In recent days crimes and violent accidents are increasing in Japan. Japanese news programs and newspaper sometimes exaggerate and report crimes and incidents in order to incite people's anxiety. Most of Japanese people feel tired and worried about the situation in Japan now. For these things, I agree to restricted to show those news on the media.
Firstly, As I mentioned before, the media often have problems with reporting. In the past, they have sometimes misled the public by not giving all accurate information, and victims have been criticized.
Most of TV news program do not have enough time to show all factor and video therefore they cut the imformation when they report that.
Therefore, viewers may judge things based solely on the information in those news items.
Secondly, some people do not want to hear sad crimes or accident.
For instance, last month in japan, there was a brutal accident. A Phycological doctor and his family killed middle aged man at hotel in hokkaido and cut the man's body. That news was reported in the morning, and not a few people were saddened and mentally damaged by the news.
The media has a duty to accurately convey all news to its audience. However, we must consider that the number of people who do not want to see sad news is increasing these days.
For these reasons, I believe that the reporting of crimes on TV and other media should be regulated. There are both advantages and disadvantages, and it is a difficult issue that needs to be discussed thoroughly.
