More and more people are becoming seriously overweight. Some people suggest that the solution to this problem is to increase the price of  fattening foods. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

You should write at least 250 words.

Over a last few years, one of the most frequent health issues faced by humans is being overweight. While some believe that increasing the price of the fattening foods will be a solution to this problem, the reasons to support why this claim is false has been discussed in this essay.

Increasing the cost price of any food in general can have a lot of implications. Not everyone is privileged to buy or have adequate food to satisfy thier hunger at all times of the day.

People in poverty work hard to earn so that they will be able to afford the basic need of life- food. Some of them have only one meal a day, and usually this is a fattening food. This is what they feed their children as well. Therefore, these people will have to go through a lot of hardships if the food prices are increased.

On the other hand, if people are addicted to something, they tend to acquire it no matter what. The price increase will only be seen as a hindrance and will not stop them from buying fatty foods. There were so many strategies implemented in the health sector to reduce costomers from buying a certain food product, but all in vain. For example, a recent study shows that alcohol prices were increased hoping the sales would decrease but it did not have any impact on the consumers for a long period of time.

To conclude, to tackle the problem of obesity, several solutions can be implemented but shooting the prices of fattening foods is not the one.
