Advertising is becoming more and more common in everyday life. Is it a positive or negative development?
You should write at least 250 words.
It is true that advertising is becoming more and more common in everyday life.
First, let me explain to yoou what advertisements are. Advertisements, or ads for short, are used to display and inform potential buyers of a persons or companies products or services. Companies or poeple buy out ad-space and use them for their advertisements. These often contain flashy imaging of the product along with important information regarding the product, such as its price or specifications. The success or failure of an advertisement depends on how many people are engaged by it and how many go on to interact with it.
Advertisements are present everywhere we see. From billboards on the streets to our televisions. From newspapers to social media.
Advertisements influence our everyday lives. They influence our decisions and shape our thoughts and preferences. From the phones we buy to our cars and even our travel destinations for our vacations, advertisements can sway our decisions from one direction to another.
This can have negative effects on us. It can lead to us missing out on better oppurtunities. Advertisements can lead into making financial decisions which can harm us the long run. Advertisements are also often misused by larger and wealthier coorporations to increase their outreach and as a result, decrease the growth and expansion of smaller home-grown busnesses. In current times, advertisements are also often used to scam people. Such ads are mostly found online. One common scam are ads that provide a link claiming to lead to a website. Once clicked on, these links are able to install viruses on our devices and gain our personal information. This private information can later be leaked or even sold to potential hackers.
But its not like advertisements dont have their benefits. The aim of an advertisement is to introduce potential buyers to a product. And if made well, it does just that. Ads provide us with information regarding newer or improved products that we might be on the look for. They provide us with various options to choose from, and select for ourselves. Ads provide smaller buisnesses with a means to reach out to the general population and make them aware of the products and services they sell. This can help small buisness owners grow their buisnesses and become more successful. Advertisements are not only used to sell products or services, but can also be used to raise money or other means of support for charities and non-profit organisations. It is not uncommon to see non-profit organistions or charities buying out ad-space to display their work and asking for support.
It is difficult to ascertain whether the growing amount of ads we see in our daily lives are a boon or a bane. They certainly have their negatives, but they dont lack in their usefulness either. While it is upto you to decide for yourself whether the increasing population of advertisements is a positive or a negative development, I for one believe that as a whole, their presence has greatly improved our lives.
