Could you tell me your name please?
My name's Kavita Batra.

Q: I’d like you to tell me about your home town (or city).
My hometown is New Delhi, a province of Delhi, the capital of India. It is also known as National capital Territory of Delhi, a city and a union territory of India having its own legislature. It is one of the four biggest states of India and is of great historical, commercial and cultural significance. Seat of Legislature, the Parliament, is situated here; other than that, President's house, Prime minister house, India gate, Lal quila and many other heritage buildings are found here only. Hopsital like All india Institute of medical science and state of art medical amenities are easily available here. Moreover, World famous wholesale markets like chandni chowk, Sadar bazar and karol bagh are the center of attractions in Delhi, besides that worship places like Jama masjid, Akshardham temple, Gurudwara bangla sahib are the hub of piligrims throughout the year.

Q : Can you tell me about the most interesting things in your home town?
The things of major attractions here are Festivals and cultural events organised here during festive seasons where unity in diversity can be experienced everywhere especially on the occasion of either diwali or New year, when the whole city if full of lighs and decorations are the most mesmerising things where anyone can taste a great variety of cusine, can enjoy cultural music and folk dance, and can explore different culture because people of different religions celebrate these events together at one place.

Q: Could you describe places of special interest I could visit near where you live?
Delhi Haat near my place in west Delhi is one of such place where one must visit to know in depth about this city.
Handicraft items, food, folk dance of vaious states can be experienced there at one place so that is the most fascinating place in west delhi. Youth cultural shows and drama are center of attractions there whereas many celebrities of music world presents their live performance there quite often.

What would be the best way for me to get to those places?
Although, commuting is very convinent in Delhi because of a great number of transportation like Delhi Metro, Private car rentals,Taxi services, Buses and battery rickshaw are easily available here within the reach of everyone's pocket and choice of comfort level. During peak hours where Public transport are badly crowded, one may opt for hiring a taxi or a private car on rental basis if comes within budget whilst sight seeing on-the-go is also one of its positive side. Whereas to avoid heavy traffic on road and pollution, Delhi metro is the best mode to commute.

Q: Should I go there at any special time of the year?
However, Delhi Haat remains open for visitors throughout the year but festive season From October to Decemebre is the most appropriate time to enjoy there when it is in full swing. Rides, Food stalls, cultural events, live shows, and shopping stalls all are highly active those days so It would be the best time to visit there which may be followed by a trip to nearest worship places

I’d like to ask you a few questions about food and diet.

Q: What do you usually eat for breakfast?
When it comes to breakfast, fried or steamed sprouts, sandwich, boiled eggs, stuffed Bread with curd are usually what I have whereas Lunch and dinner I guess is more or less same in most of the North India. I am a big fan of South Indian food too, and I love atleast once in a week to have Rice Bowls dipped in mixed soup of pulses and green vegetables made in special south indian spices to have either for lunch or dinner.

Q: What is the most important meal of the day for you?
As Everyone knows that the secret to a healthy day is a healthy breakfast and now even the doctors approve that eating breakfast regularly makes a person healthy, so For me and my family Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

What should we eat to stay healthy?
Eat Nutritious Foods and eating a variety of foods from all the food groups ensures that you are meeting your recommended daily totals for nutrients that support good health. Fill your plate with plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean protein sources which means a balanced diet is the prime most requirement for being healthy.

Q: Will people’s diet change in the future?
Over the past 50 years, India has changed remarkably as a country and It’s population has become more than double during this period so It’s quite obvious to put some impact on the nation’s diet pattern also. As a matter of course that eating habits evolve over time which is quite evident these days when people got inclined more towards ready to consume eatables and fastfood items influenced by global culture. Gradually after effects of Pandemic has motivated people to intake healthy diet which can support their immune system to fight against diseases however, it is given boost to genetically engineered food items and super food culture which are supposed to be an integral part of daily diet in near future.

PART 3

Q: What role do traditional ceremonies play in the social life of people in your country?
ANS :Different people have their own traditions which play very important role in their life. All consider their traditional rituals very important like punjabis celebrate basakhi whereas hindus celebrate diwali and many others but there is a bond of unity and oneness among the people of different customs .

Q: What traditions were important for your grandparents, say 50 years ago?
ANS :Traditional ceremonies and cultures wer more or less rigid and superstitious during half -a-century ago where rituals like cooking sweet dish by the newely wedded Bride on her first morning for the whole family a part of life. The concept of arranged marriage in India traces its origin to as early as the Vedic times. Other than that Guests are considered next to God since ancient period. Infact most of those traditions are intact even today and hopefully will be carried out to the next generation as a cultural heritage.

Q: Which traditions will continue to be celebrated in the future?
ANS :Some tradtions are within the roots of India customs and those are expected to be celebrated with faith by next generation perhaps in a modified manner and Arranged marriage in the presesnce of near and dear ones of the biggest example of it. supposidely doing prayers before every auspicious begining no matter belongs to family matters, commercial aspects or of scientific importance is also one of such tradition of Indian culture.

Q: How would you describe young peoples’ attitudes towards tradition? Are customs and traditions changing these days?
ANS :Generation of 21st century onwards thinks logically and scientifically so one can't expect them to follow anything blindly but at the same time young people have positive attitude for every important and logically correct custom or ritual; therefore, rituals and beliefs when explained with the logics behind them can be adopted by youth of next century with equal trust and responsibility after some modifications as per their choice. Diwali puja with family is one of such tradition equally accepted by youth also.

Q: Why do you think this is happening?
ANS :Young people can't practice all traditional functions rigidly because evolution of everything is the requirement of time; same is happing with tradional and cultural heritage als. Therefore, flexibility in terms of rules and principles while adopting old traditions is essential characteristics applied by people of new era.

Q: Do you think traditions and customs are affected by advertising?
ANS :Undoubtedly, Adverts are affecting our customary principles to some extent which is evident where everything belongs to traditional items for God like food, other articles of prayers are readily bought online instead of making at home with love and devotion. Although Beliefs are still the same towards rituals.

Q: Do some countries celebrate traditions more than others?
ANS :Well as per my knowledge, some countries are more inclined towards their old age traditions while others, being developed nations, are now celebrate a limited number of old traditions. They like to behave like rational people and only adopt traditions which are most suited to their life-syle.
