Student Background
Ridhima Khanna (imaginary name), working as Assistant General Manager, decided to appear in IELTS exam with the aspiration to immigrate. She wanted to achieve good band score so that she could apply for immigration in her intended country, either Canada or Australia. This is another IELTS case study of a married woman who had a kid to look after and hence she wanted to enrol for online classes so that she could find it convenient enough to attend the classes and save time for work at home as well as office.
Course Objective
Ridhima enrolled for a one month course with UFaber and used to attend online classes via Skype. Though she wanted to get Band 7 and above, it was mandatory to meet the minimum eligibility criterion of Band 6.5 in each of the modules of IELTS. One more thing, it was the first time she was giving IELTS exam and attending online training.
Strategy – uFaber Study Plan
Depending upon her requirements, she was given all the required tips and tricks in order to achieve good band score. Ridhima’s course began in the order of listening, reading, writing while speaking was a part of everyday’s session. Mock tests were conducted and extra material was shared with her for her reference and self study.
Strategy Implementation
Ridhima was good in her English skills and was improving well in all the modules. Though listening appeared to her as quite an uncomfortable module in the first few sessions but soon she picked up the pace. Reading, as she used to enjoy a lot (in her own words), was also well practiced by her. Writing feedbacks were provided to meet the requirements while all those things that she needs to keep in mind during exam were informed to her on a daily basis. She was performing well in mock tests and moreover, she found her training sessions so enjoyable that she wanted to continue taking classes even after the end of her course. The reason is that she felt the training classes helped her improve on a number of aspects which she could utilize for day-to-day professional communication as well.
Ridhima’s Result
On receiving results, she was happy that she got 7 Band as her score was sufficient to get herself registered for her immigration program and this is the reason she found it satisfactory.
Here’s the result of Ridhima’s IELTS band score:
Overall Band Score – 7.0
- Listening – 6.5
- Reading – 6.5
- Writing – 6.5
- Speaking – 7.0
