In most parts of the world, it is legal to get married when turning 18 years old. However, some people hold the idea to delay that eligible age till 21 because of the possible demerits of early marriages. From my point of view, I support the idea of later marriage with explanations as follows.
Firstly, it is believed that the rate of divorce would be decreased if juveniles waited to get married after their 21. That is because the later marriage means having better preparation for family life. Almost all teenagers admitted that they got married early due to their impulse acts during the adolescent period, such as unintended pregnancy. The lack of preparation resulting in not fully understanding the crucial responsibility of sharing a home life with a partner or having kids ends up in an early divorce.
Secondly, teenagers are permitted to get married just after high school graduation may also bring a lot of disadvantages to their career and social position. When getting married before 20, the young are likely to delay their undergraduate. Because they often have more concerns about their new life, especially women, who have been seen as housewives for a long time. It is also true in the case of young husbands when they are distracted from education due to the role of breadwinner. Hence, it is hard for under-20 couples to obtain financial and social life stability without university degrees.
In conclusion, I agree that the appropriate age for marriage life should be at least 21 because of more opportunities to have a sustainable family life and be successful in society
