Writing task 2

When we talk about drugs, it is something common in this modern society and unsurprisingly, everyone knows and is familiar with it. People nowadays are using drugs yet youngsters are eagerly wanting to try both illegal and legal drugs as they grow up. The experts said this is due to the wrong example set by the parents and older society. In this essay, I will discuss the causes and effects of widespread drug use by the youth in modern-day society.

The primary key to this problem is the parents themselves. The youth cannot be fully blamed for what happened to them. Parents should set a good example and be role models for their kids. Who else would the children spend most of their time other than their parents? Young kids are like sponges. They see, absorb and copy the behavior presented to them. For example, if the parents are having a negative lifestyle by taking drugs and smoking, the children will most likely be adapted to the same style of living. In fact, they might be even acting worse than their parents due to the trauma they had when they were little.

In this case, there are no better solutions but to get to the root of the problem; the parents. Being a parent is a lifetime commitment. If you do not think you are ready enough to display a good sample to the children, then just simply do not. A good parenting style would lead to a better generation and vice versa. We do not want our future generation destroyed by drugs. As the era is globalized, many upcoming tougher challenges are to be faced by them. Therefore, strong and quality generations need to be prepared, not weak ones.

In the nutshell, drugs are such silent killers. It kills you slowly and cruelly without you realizing it. It makes you demand for more and more once you have tried it. It is an addiction that will finally bring you to lying on the deathbed. To make it short, prevention is better than cure. It is better and more useful to meet a problem in time than to seek a remedy after the damage is done.
