Sample Answer 1 :

I'd like to describe the time when I lost my memory stick. It was the memory stick I used all the time, as it had this pink color and it could be used as a music player at the time, so it was quite pretty and multifunctional.

It was several years ago when I was still a freshman at university. It was near the end of the term, so I needed to make some slides for presentations, write essays and things like these. I decided to study in the library and use the computer there. But unfortunately, when I finished all the work and saved everything in my memory stick, I forgot to take the stick with me and left.

I didn't actually do much to find it, since when I went back to my seat, I didn't see it anywhere near the desk. I knew it must have been taken by others, and there was nothing I could do about it.

I was pretty upset as I had to do the work all over again and start to save some money to buy a new one. However, several days later, I got an email asking if I lost a flask disk in the library. Someone found it and returned it to the front desk. I was very surprised and excited that I could get it back. After that, I promise myself to always check the desk before I leave, no matter where I go.

Sample Answer 2:

Well, speaking of this special experience,we have to turn the clock back to almost five months ago actually it was such a fairly sunny day, which just put me in the mood to go to the gym like once in a lifetime, and after swimming for almost one hour, I just felt terribly weary and exhausted, can't wait to grab a random bite or a cup of smoothie,However, when I arrived at the salad bar and was about to scan the QR card in order pay my bills, it was the very moment that I realized maybe I accidentally left my phone in the locker! Oh my God! It must have been concealed by the pile of clothing in that narrow space and unfortunately got neglected! Which made me feel totally on pins and needles! What a terrible mistake I just made!

Honestly, the first idea that comes to my mind was to call the police, but since it was in the changing room, there was no CCTV at all, obviously this wouldn't be a good idea! That is to say, there might be almost no chance to find it back. I mean, I should learn my lessons, but all my stuff was in it. Not to mention that it was almost brand new, and it had cost me 10 grand! It was like the end of the world!

Therefore, I said to myself: Why not give it a shot! Thanks to the gentleman, a very kind-hearted staff who kindly and generously lent his phone to me, I finally dialed on my own phone. Before it was picked, believe it or not, my heartbeat would almost stop. Thank God! It turns out a stranger just sent it to the lost and found without leaving her name! What a noble thing to do!

All in all, every time when I browse the internet with my iPhone X, there would be mixed feelings: on the one hand, I really appreciate the kindness from a stranger who ever gave a help hand; on the other hand, it would always remind me to be more attentive. I did learn my lessons about mutual trust and security!

Part 3:

Question:What kinds of things do people usually lose?

Sample answer:

As far as I know, there are quite a wide range of things people usually lose. For the perspective of tangible things, people usually lose something really small or pretty much neglectable such as keys, flash drives or even the phone charger. Because sometimes after charging, you could easily forget it when you leave the room, this is pretty much common in coffee shops or on a taxi. Besides, let's look at the intangible things, sometimes when you send some files or pictures to your tutors or your study partners, if they didn't download and store the files immediately on their electronic gadgets like the laptop or smart phones, it could also be possible that these documents would just slide away from the server, which would definitely give you a headache.

Question: What do people often do when losing things?

Sample answer:

Well, it depends on the things they lose. For example, if something really expensive or significant was missing like a golden necklace or some contracts, the owner would call the police and the insurance company to find professional help. Even a private detective would be a good choice as well.

On the contrary, if it is only something pretty small or of little value, and there is maybe not much hope to find it back, the owners, especially the youngsters would just post a complaint on the social media as a self-mockery. And apart from that, there was pretty much nothing to do at all.

Question: Is it an effective way to use rewards to find lost things?

Sample answer:

Honestly, I wouldn't be 100% positive on this idea but admittedly, it would be effective to some extent. For example, if you lost your phone and you promise to give like 1000 Yuan as a gift to the ones who found it, this could be very luring compared to a sleeping smart phone. This 1000 Yuan could be of greater use. However, this proposal could also be a double-edged sword. I mean, in some extreme cases, this could be an motive, incentive or invitation for the potential criminals to "kidnap" your properties or your pets, therefore bringing some misleading trend to the society.

Question: What kinds of people may lose things often?

Sample answer:

Obviously they forgetful and absent-minded people would be on top of this ranking, for example, they would easily leave things here and there even if there was a reminder on their phones to constantly ring a bell about the keys or the flash drive or something like that, they would still forget it due to the poor memory. What's more,Anyone with poor sleep would make such mistakes as well, I think with proper help, but I'm quite confident that these mistakes could be avoided in advance at some point.
