The bar chart illustrates the proportion of the total world population in 4 countries in two years 1950 and 2002, and also predictions for 2050.

It is clear that China and India have the highest percentages of the population. The proportions of the population in three countries China, USA, Japan decreased from 1950 to 2050 while this number in India increased steadily.

In 1950, the amount of the population in China was highest, at around 23%, while the figure for India was marginally lower, about 15%. The figure for Japan is the lowest and followed by the US with over 5%.In 2002, the percentage of the Indian population rose slowly to approximately 17%, while China, the USA and Japan all witnessed decreases in their figures.

In 2050, it is predicted that the proportion of the Indian population will increase to nearly 20% and become the highest figure compared to other countries. In contrast, the population percentages of China and Japan are projected to decline dramatically, about 15% and 2%. In the same year, the figure for the USA is to remain the same, at 5%.

These days, face-to-face communication among many individuals in society is being replaced by the use of social media. From my point of view that the benefits these technologies have brought to our lives are overshadowed by their drawbacks.

In terms of the advantages, social media helps us connect with people around the world. For example, if you want to talk with Americans, you just only add friends with them on Facebook or follow them on Instagram. In addition, social networking sites have made it much easier for us to keep in contact with our loved ones. For example, when you study abroad and you miss your parents, you can call them on the phone or video call on some app such as Facetime.

Besides that, the social medium has some disadvantages. Spending too much time on social medium is not good for your health. You can be an eyesore, headache... It also me us feel shy when communicating directly in real life.

In conclusion, for the reasons mentioned above, I think that the positive effects that social media has on our communication are outweighed by the disadvantages.
