Writing task 2

People nowadays hold different points of view about whether or not should students have homework. As far as I'm concerned, although homework is good for schoolkids to revise their lesson and develop self-discipline, it is better to not give students homework due to differences in studying pace and the lack of time for relexation.

On the one hand, homework is vital, as it can help school children deepen their understanding of the knowledge. As is already claimed by scientists, revising the knowledge regularly is essential for learning and memorizing. Without homework, children will easily forget what they have learnt in the previous days, which leads to bad performance in exams. Besides, homework can partly help children be more disciplined after-class time. By fitting homework into their own schedule, schoolkids can learn how to get rid of procrastination, and then be more independent about their studies.

However, homework can be a burden on children. It is believed that homework takes up the leisure time of school children, and therefore hinders their mental development, while instead, they need to spend time on developing their creativity and personal skills, as well as spending time with their family and friends as a way to release stress after a day of hard work. Moreover, the homework given by the teachers at school is the same for all students, which is seemingly fair, but actually not. Gifted students may poccess a stronger ability to adapt new knowlegde in a short term, while some students may find it hard to fully understand the newly taught lessons. Hence, there has to be a way for students to organize their own learning speed.

In conclusion, although homework given by teachers has both benefits and limitations, I still think the negative effects of homework outweigh the good ones.
