[Sebastien R] 雅思写作真题 840097

Task 1

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You have a full-time job and you are also doing a part-time evening course.

You now find that you cannot continue the course.

Write a letter to your teachers. In your letter

describe the situation

explain why you cannot continue at this time

say what action you would like to take

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear ................. ,

There are three main things to consider before writing your essay:

1. Tone (formal or informal)
Sometimes students are friendly with their tutors, but I think it would be better to write a formal letter. Start with your tutor’s surname (e.g. Dear Mr. Smith,) and end with “Yours sincerely,”. Avoid contractions (write “I am” instead of “I’m”), and avoid using informal idioms or expressions. Be polite rather than friendly.

2. Purpose
The main purpose of this letter is to inform your tutor that you are leaving the course. Make this clear straight away (e.g. I am writing to inform you that...). Then cover the three points, writing a short paragraph for each.

3. Ideas
I recommend spending a few minutes planning ideas for each of the task points before you start writing. You need to decide what the evening course is about, what your full-time job is, a reason why you are too busy with work to continue with the course, and whether you want to leave completely or perhaps continue at a later date.

You should write at least 150 words.

Writing task 1

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to resign from the English evening course and request for information about alternate options.

For 2 years, I was attending the Advenced English course on Tuesday and Thurday evenings, from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, with Mr. BENNET. My English has improved a lot and I would like to thank you and your institute about that. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to attend this course.

Indeed, during the day, 5 days a week, I am working as computer scientist and I just accepted a promotion as a team leader. Despite I am still working for the same company in the same domain, I would need time to learn new skills that are required for this new role such as team building or priorities management.

However, my will to learn and improve my English is intact. Therfore, I would like to find another way to continue my learning journey with your Institue. Could you send me any information about alternatives such as courses during the week-end or online lessons please so that I could be able to continue at my own pace?

Looking forward your response.

Yours faithfully

Sebastien

Task 2

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Nowadays we are producing more and more rubbish.

Why do you think this is happening?

What can governments do to help reduce the amount of rubbish produced?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

Writing task 2

Rubbish: an unsolvable global problem?

This essay will deal with the more significant causes of the rubbish production increase then will explore some solutions that could be triggered by our gouvernments.

The problem has become global recently especially since the discovery of the garbage island in Pacific ocean. Causes are multiple despite they have a single source: humankind. The most part of the increase is due to the developping countries. Indeed, as their are developping, their companies and citizens are consumming more goods. This phenomena is amplified by the fact developping countries gather the most part of the world population. But blaming those countries would be too easy as developped countries did the same things few decades before. Our economical system has to be blamed first as it never took into account the ecological impacts. For instance, milk was firslty distributed into glass bottles and milk companies were responsible to collect and recycle bottles. Then plastic bottles were used to avoid cost of recycling and because they are lighter which reduce transportation costs. Today, plastic starts to be recycled as well but this is less easy to do than for glass.

Individual actions are always good but not significant. Our gouvernements could fund more the research and developement of new materials that would be more sustainable (either bio-degradable or easily recyclable). They have the power to make citizens and companies responsible for the rubbish they produce by taxing them. Therefore rubbish producers could decidde to reduce their production in the meantime solutions are found by scientists. But the key of the success is the collaboration between states. There is no point a single governement taxes companies if those companies can move in another less eco-friendly country and continue as before.

To put it in a nutshell: the problem and the solutions are global.
