There are three main things to consider before writing your essay:

1. Tone (formal or informal)
Sometimes students are friendly with their tutors, but I think it would be better to write a formal letter. Start with your tutor’s surname (e.g. Dear Mr. Smith,) and end with “Yours sincerely,”. Avoid contractions (write “I am” instead of “I’m”), and avoid using informal idioms or expressions. Be polite rather than friendly.

2. Purpose
The main purpose of this letter is to inform your tutor that you are leaving the course. Make this clear straight away (e.g. I am writing to inform you that...). Then cover the three points, writing a short paragraph for each.

3. Ideas
I recommend spending a few minutes planning ideas for each of the task points before you start writing. You need to decide what the evening course is about, what your full-time job is, a reason why you are too busy with work to continue with the course, and whether you want to leave completely or perhaps continue at a later date.

Dear Mr Smith,

I am writing to inform you that I am afraid of not attending a part-time evening course in the nearest future. I would explain in the following paragraphs.

I am an administrative staff in CPC. I work from 9 am to 5pm except weekends so that I can join evening courses.

However, the covid-19 has breaking out these days. One of my colleagues unfortunately got Covid-19, stayed in Miaoli Hospital and would be isolated at least one month. My employer asked me to take over his work and put me on the permanent payroll. It means that I have to work shift since next week. This condition would continue until my colleague comes back.

In conclusion, I have to stop this course because of the uncertain time. I would take this course again when I don’t need to work in the evening.

I hope to have a chance to complete this course in a future.

Nowadays we are producing more and more rubbish.

Why do you think this is happening?

Answer

Presently, plenty of wastes on seas, beaches and mountains let people notice the serious rubbish problem. Due to the increasing population and convenient purchases, people pursue beautiful packaging and luxurious life.

For example, people prepare gifts with elegant wrapping means that how elegant it is and how respectable the receiver gets. Because of this, wrapping may be excessive and produce lots of unnecessary rubbish.

The second instance is overuse of plastic. The most common plastic product is Plastic bags. People use plastic bags which are single-use for carrying and storing foods. Moreover, indecomposable is the feature of plastic bags that is malicious to our environment. According to the statistics of Environmental Protection Agency in Taiwan, it costs 4.5 billion plastic bottles every year. Producing plastic bottles needs considerable water and fuel. Although they are recyclable, they contain micro beads which may hurt our health as well as sea pollution.

To reduce numerous wastes, government executes reducing plastic policy. People should pay 2 dollars for one plastic bag additionally that encourages people take eco bags by themselves. Similarly, people who bring reusable bottles to buy drinks can have a discount. To store holders, government asks them to use decomposable materials instead of plastic products.

Overall, Simplifying life, recycling properly, participating in beach cleanups and avoiding products containing micro beads are not only government but also people can do their best to do. We only have one earth and must be precious to it. The more action we take the cleaner world we have.
