The benefits and drawbacks of interchange of international scholars have always be a subject of discussion among teachers. A significant number of them are of the view that this will be to the interest of students and therefore should be encouraged. I completely agree with this view because the exposure of these students to diverse social-cultural backgrounds as well as enormous teaching techniques from lecturers across the world will play a vital role in their career path; subsequently benefit these students more than any challenges or disadvantages of this practice. This essay will discuss this view in detail.
To begin with, students who participate in global exchange of students are exposed to ample experiences; culture, religion and unique climatic conditions are among the common aspects of life these students usually witness. These exposures in many occasions play vital role in these students’ professional careers because in this day and edge many working environment can boost of staffs of different race and religion. People who for instance work with international organisations such as UN, WHO, World Bank, to mention but a few will likely have to deal with different people from different parts of the world. If such staffs were involved in international student exchange in their school days, they will not have problem coping with each other.
In addition, international exchange of students avail teenage students the opportunity to be lectured by erudite professors who have cogent knowledge of many of their courses. This goes a long way to facilitate the understanding of the student in many aspects of their major. Furthermore, they enjoy learning various teaching method and this also help immensely in their understanding of the courses. Without these kinds of experience, students will tend to struggle in some critical aspect of learning such as history and geography which require people to have an in depth exposure in the field in order to have better understanding.
In conclusion, there is no doubt that there are a number of drawbacks in teenage student exchange. However, the benefits are many and really prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. Therefore, it will go a long way to benefit students across the world if international student exchange is encouraged.
