Write about the following topic:
Should long-term job seekers in receipt of government benefits be made to do voluntary work so that they give something back to the community?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
You should write at least 250 words.
Job seekers is a government aid intiative to those who are having trouble in securing employment. It was introduced in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic to those who lost their jobs and are unable to find any type of employment especially in their field of expertise.
This government aid has without doubt benefitted the individuals or families who are eligible and are facing the present difficulties of putting food on the table and keeping up with their bills.
I believe they (job seekers) should do their part and give back to the community or as volunteers for any organisation of their choice.
My reason stems from the fact that most temporary residents are part of the community as well and are not eligible for any assistance even though they are in the same situation. These temporary residents also pay for tax ,superannuation and are consumers and breadwinners for their familes; and inturn during the pandemic they are not eligilbe for any assistance.
Long term job seekers should recognise that it is a priviledge to receive government assistance whereas in some countries people have to fend for themselves in this hard times.
In conclusion,it is understandable that the world is going through yet again an unfortunate time in human history and it is indeed no one's fault that they have lost employment opportunity. However,it is admirable that the government has taken the responsiblity to provide assistance where it is due thus job seekers should take it into their heart to give back to the community especially to those who are not fortunate enough to provide basic needs for their families or themselves in the community they (job seekers ) are part of.
