Sample Answer :

I would recommend Chongqing. There was once I took a vacation in there, which is a mountainous city in southwestern China. To be honest, I'm not good at geography by any means, so before I went there, all I knew about this city was that it was notorious for its complex traffic system. I've heard that even the best cab drivers would lose their way on the intersecting flyovers.

I can't remember exactly when I went there, but it must have been before the COVID-19 outbreak. It was during my summer break and I got to travel there with a bunch of my college friends, who all seemed interested in the view of Chongqing. We took a flight to the city and rented a car to navigate around. I have to say, the traffic system in this city is as puzzling as people say. But anyway, we went to a couple of famous viewing spots in the city, which were all packed with visitors. I mean, the views were decent, but I just couldn't stand the crowd. Apart from the sceneries, we tried out some local special hotpot, which tasted absolutely wonderful. The food was rich in flavor and the spiciness just brought it to another level.

I'm usually an indecisive person and I don't like traveling, so it was actually my friends' idea to go to Chongqing. but after exploring this area, I might have changed my mind. I look forward to paying another visit when I have time, but I will choose a form of transport other than cars and hopefully, that can serve me better.

Sample Answer 2:

Okay, I really enjoy traveling and I've been to quite a few cities before. They're all amazing places but there's one city that, I think, impressed me the most, because I had heard lots of negative things about it but I was proved wrong.

It's Hong Kong, the financial hub of Asia. I visited this city after my high school graduation with my parents. I heard about the overcrowding and how people would turn a cold shoulder to those coming from the mainland. But still, my parents and I decided to go there because, you know, it's a shopping paradise and also famous for its top institutions.

So there we went, and it was like a 2 hour flight, very smooth journey, and we stayed at a cozy hotel, which by the way, was quite expensive. But aside from the cost, I couldn't really think of anything negative about Hong Kong. First of all, the streets were very clean and people all seemed to be well-mannered.

There was this shop owner who asked me where I was from and was more than happy to recommend places to visit. So yeah the people there actually made a great impression. And second, I took a tour at the local universities. There I saw students from all parts of the world, like from muslin countries, western countries, and Africa. That's what I particularly like about Hong Kong, you know, the diversity. And of course, in terms of shopping and eating, we were really spoilt for choices.

So in a nutshell, Hong Kong is undoubtedly one of my favorite cities. I just love the vibe there, and maybe one day I can study and build a life there.

Part 3

Question:If you were asked to go and live in a village, would you be willing to go?

Sample Answer:

Oh that's an interesting question. Personally I've never really lived in a village so I'd like to. I've heard ambivalent things about Chinese rural areas. For example, there're many wonderful things, like how peaceful it is, and how hospitable the people can be. But at the same time, I've also heard very bad things about Chinese villages, like how muddy the streets can be, and how ill- mannered the villagers are. So I feel very curious about the real situation and I'd like to go if I got the chance.

Question:Do you think it's just as good to live on the outskirt of the city as it is to live in the middle of the city?

Sample Answer:

Yes I agree with this statement. Life on the outskirt means better living environment, like more green space and lower housing price. And now almost every family can afford private cars, so it's very easy to just hop into the car and head to the downtown for fun. And in fact, I'd say maybe living on the outskirt is much better than living in the heart of the city, because you'd be away from all the hustle and bustle, away from noise, pollution, and traffic jams, things like that.

Question:What are the benefits for children to grow up in an urban area, and alternatively, in a rural area?

Sample Answer:

Benefits for children? Well it's pretty obvious that children who grow up in a city would have more chance to go to all sorts of museums, join all kinds of educational activities, so they may know more about the world, like new technologies, different countries and cultures. And by participating in various events, they are able to develop their social skills more. But country life can also bring meaningful lessons to a child. For example, he can learn more about where vegetables come from, and gain valuable lessons from mother nature, like how precious it is to protect rivers and the soil.

Question:Would you say people living in a rural area have fewer problems than people living in the cities?

Sample Answer:

No I wouldn't say that. It seems that people who live in the countryside can enjoy some peace and quiet, but actually they've got more things to worry about. The first thing would be their crops, the crops they grow that might be damaged by natural disasters like drought, and this could threaten their livelihood. And because farming could take up lots of energy, and they themselves may have received not enough education, and so they themselves may find it hard to tutor their children or help them with homework. Another thing they might be concerned about is medical services. When a family member is ill, they may have to travel far to send him to a medical center for treatment. In some underdeveloped regions, people may even have no access to clean drinkable water and safe housing. So I'd say people living in rural areas have more things to worry about than people in the cities.

Question:Some people say people living in the countryside are friendlier than people living in cities. Do you agree?

Sample Answer:

Well I guess that makes sense, to some degree, because people living in the countryside usually know each other for their whole life, and they treat neighbors like family, helping each other whenever they're in need. This would look like a very healthy and loving relationship, so they would strike people as friendly and hospitable. But I can also argue that many villagers can be rude and unfriendly because they haven't had any high level of education, and as a result, they can make people around them feel a bit uncomfortable, especially if they don't know each other that well.
