Name

Question 1:

Do you like your names?

Sample answer:

Well, not really, I guess, though I have to say that it's easy to remember. Maybe part of the reason is that it is a bit mouthful, though my parents would not agree with me, I mean, my name was given by them, and they definitely consider it as a wise choice. However, I know it's not child's play to change names in China, which is exactly why I still keep it, and I guess I just have already got used to it.

Question 2:

Does your name have any special meaning?

Sample answer:

Well, Chinese people true indeed attach great importance to giving names, and my name is not exceptional. For my given name, it is a symbol of persistence, so I guess what my parents expect from me is to be a person with great patience, not tending to give up easily, which from my perspective is meaningful.

Question 3:

Are there many Chinese people who have the same name as you?

Sample answer:

I would not say it is that commonly seen in China, even though from time to time, you might hear names which sound quite similar, but they actually bear little resemblance to each other, especially in terms of Chinese characters, so, in this way, I have to say that my given name is not universal or ordinary.

Question 4:

Is there any tradition about naming babies?

Sample answer:

With respect to naming babies, I guess the first one that I can think of is the truth that seniors like grandparents are the ones who name newly born babies, and the other is that children inherit their father's surname, and boy babies usually will be given a masculine name, while for girl babies, names are often feminine
