Writing task 2

I remember when I first heard of the word IT (Information Technology) when I was in a high school and first ever experience with computer. I had no idea why was this subject added on top of our regular curriculum which my seniors from just a few years ago didn't have. It didn't seem fair to us or our generation. But later the more I started learning, the more I started differentiating robot from computer. Well, that's what I thought it was in the very beginning, the robot. Information technology dramatically changed our lives. With it's knowledge and applications, we can reach out to millions of those who were unreachable or hard to reach before. Within one press and without paying for additional cost than internet charge, we are able to communicate via emails, phone calls, video calls, hold conference calls, schedule meetings and work across the globe virtually. We can purchase online without even touching cash or visiting the shops. During the COVID-19 pandemic, importance of Information Technology was validated and there is no doubt it helped people to stay in touch, to get remote health consultations (some countries were also successful in performing remote surgeries), to attend school/ classes virtually, to work from home etc. Some of these or maybe none of these were thought to be possible prior to that. Though there are negative aspects such as cybercrimes, scammers, hackers, online exploitation, misuse of social media etc and also the negative impact to the environment due to carbon emission, the advantages still outweigh the disadvantages.
