The given chart describes the Japan's population from 1950 to 2055 including projected population in the future, while the table shows the numbers and proportions of eldery group in 4 respective years which also including the anticipated numbers. Overall, it is clear that Japanese population stopped increasing and turned into the downward trend while the portion of elderly group will take the bigger porportion in the future.
Following to the first line graph, steady growth of population was observed during the 55-year period from 1950 to 2005, with a peak of 127.8 million in the last year. However, significant decrease about 15.4 million of people is projected from 2015 to 2035. This is anticipated to be continued in the following 20 years which expected to see 89.9 million in 2055.
According to the table, the number of age group in the range of 65 years old and above had rose dramatically from 1950 to 2005, recording 25.7 million and 20% of portion of the total population in 2005. The rise is expected to be consistent in the next 30 years with anticipated number of 37.2 million consisting 34% of the total demography, however it will experience the downward trend between 2035 and 2055 with a small decrease in its number.
