The use of smartphone can be sometimes very antisocial. It could break the flow of the conversation and stops some biological signals between people, like eyes contact or other intercations. This use of mobile phones could be compared of the smoking habit, because both are kid of addictions today.
Some people advocate to apply some rules to ban the mobile phones as same banned smoking areas.
We need to take care of this kind of mindset, if you make a shallow comparison this seams as a efficient resolution for the antisocial behaviours, but phones are not the same as smoking and when you need to compare thinks you should think deeply at it.
First phones are tools, and not direct related as smoking addiction.
Phones today are ours central point of comunication to the world. An ban it could couse problems in some dangerous situtions or just make people forget or dont be alert when something need fast action.
Phones have been used today to replace some documents or make payments, then is other option to dont need to carry all other documents or things.
Antisocial behaviour will happend with phone or other things if people aren't interested to the up topic. Then ban it will not resolve the antisocial behaviour.
I strong disagree with the idea of ban a tool useful in a lot of cases, including security, just because people can't create interesting topics to lub their social interaction.
The problem isn't the tool, the problem is the human behaviour. And change this is more complex that you think.
