A pie and a bar charts are displaying how women and men are participating in different types of evening classes, differentiating by age as well. The classes analyzed are drama, painting, sculpture and language, while five ranges of age are evaluated.
Ninety five women are considered in this study: 20 of them are taking drama classes, 30 painting, 5 sculpture, and 40 language. Regarding the sixty five men included in the study, 10 are taking drama, 25 painting, 10 sculpture, and 20 language. These numbers are showing that the class with almost a balance between women and men is painting where 30 women and 25 men are attending. However, it is clear that in the other classes the attendance of one group is twice the other one. In drama and language classes, women participation is twice the men´s, while in sculpture, men are the majority.
The class with the greatest attendance is language with 60 students in total. The class with the least number of participants is sculpture with only 15 students.
About the ranges of age, the 50 years old or more students are the majority of the study reflecting 42% of the participation, followed by the 40 to 49 years old students with 26%, then 30 to 39 years old students with 16%, 20 to 29 years old students with 11%, and the students aged under 20 closing the list with 5%.
The research demonstrates the variety of classes and ages of the student population that is taking the evening courses.

In today´s society diversity is essential to understand our differences. Some people believe that we should be conservative and preserve the heterosexual marriage, as it is a symbol of balance and a natural union beween a woman and a man. However, other people consider that, in this era, we should be open-minded and allow the homosexual marriage as an standard for the relationships among humans. No matter the choice would be, the diversity should be included in the construction of our society.
In the past, maybe before the 60´s, gay people were not able to express their sexual preferences and lived in the shadows, hidding their own identity. These people suffered the discrimination by others with no compassion. Nonetheless, gay movements started in the 60´s to reflect this cruel situation and fought for the gay people´s rights. Movies like "Milk" are a true demonstration of this reality.
All these social movements demonstrated that homosexual people are human beings that deserve respect and consideration, no matter their sexual orientation might be. Conservative citizens began to understand that live in community with gay people is possible and our society can be built including them.
Most of the times, a woman or a man can not select their sexual preference, and it is not fair to suffer discrimination or be treated as a person with an illness because of that. Gay marriage should be legal and our society must understand that a sexual orientaton can not be criteria for accepting a couple of people that made a decision to join their lives. Happiness is a right for all, and if anyone feels that hapinees can be found through other of the same sex, so be it.
