Writing Task 1

Dear Kanika,

Hope this letter finds you in radiant health and best of spirit. I was very glad to know that you have finally made up your mind to learn driving. After attaining excellence in driving, you will turn into a more confident and independent individual.

First of all, apply for a learner's licence. It will be beneficial for you as well as for other riders on road. This shall allow you to learn the driving. Moreover, write the word 'L' in the red letter so that your co-drivers keep their vehicles at an appropriate distance from you. This license will also cover all kinds of accidental injuries.

According to me, you should join AK driving school. It is very near to your home. Even I opted for the same institute. The whole staff is very friendly and their training tactics are beyond words.

Recently, TVS has launched a new scooter which has inbuilt small tyres which help the new riders to keep proper balance on road and remember it is very necessary to use a helmet while driving.

Hope you will soon be a good driver.

See you soon.

Task 2

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Should long-term job seekers in receipt of government benefits be made to do voluntary work so that they give something back to the community?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

Some intellectuals from both the developed and developing world believe that the person undergoing the jobs rendered by the government must do some communal work which shall benefit the society at large. I completely disagree with the stated notion as the jobs acquired by such individuals are bourne out of tough competitions and require huge concentration to continue with the job related matters.

The job of a government employee is full of tension and burden. To explain, such workers are vested with an enormous workload which is to be completed with due care and diligence. Furthermore, employees working under administrative machinery are appointed after examinations and interviews. The authorities tend to take out the best brains from society in order to run the smooth functioning of every department. For instance, the State Bank of India appoints a bank manager after three rounds of exams and group discussions. It is seen that banks opt only for that person as a manager who is best in business and finance activities. Therefore, the payscale of government employees is quite high.

However, Some people think that government employees must impart some of their contribution from salary to community-related works. Such people only see one side of the coin that is high remuneration, whereas the other side of the coin which shows the hard work in order to achieve the job and the responsibility and work pressure which comes with the job is never seen. To illustrate, the wages of bank managers are high, but the responsibility of a single penny of the bank is on the manager.

To conclude, one must not decide the book by its cover. In my opinion, if authorities give high wages to their employees, they tend to take work against the said salary. The money received by officials is against the blood and sweat shredded by them at the workplace.
