The line graph illustrates the number of oil products and consumers using oil in China from 1982 to 2006.
It can be seen that both figures experienced overall increases. The amount of produced oil starts the period with the higher than the oil consumption but vice versa in finishing.
The period from 1982 to 1986 saw an increase of 1 million in oil production while the oil consumption stayed constant. Over the next 8 years ago, Chinese people generally consumed more oil, reaching around 4 million oil barrels. By contrast, the figure for oil produced remained stable at 3 million.
From this point onwards, the oil consumption maintained its upward streak while the oil production had only slight growth. In 2006, about 8 million oil barrels were consumed and 2 million were produced.
